Sometimes you need to add new metadata fields to your assets in Adobe Experience Manager. It is not a straightforward process to accomplish this. We recently were helping one of our customers through this and got quite frustrated. Saurabh Gupta from the AEM Developer Learning site has taken the time to outline the proper steps to manipulate metadata fields within AEM Assets, in the article “Override/Overlay Dam Asset Metadata in AEM 6.2”. The use case stated in the article suggested changing the tag path so that it defaulted to a specific location in the tag tree, but this could be extended to other use cases. Perhaps you need to add a completely new field with specific values to select from. Whatever it is, use the metadata schema and don’t do anything inside of “libs”.
